About

This is a blog about Alaska science — specifically, science in the Interior. It’s also a blog about observation, discovery and taking those blinders off and really looking at the world around you while travelling from A to B.

My name’s Kelsey Gobroski. I am a digital media producer at the University of Alaska Museum of the North in Fairbanks, Alaska. I’ve been a radio intern at KTOO News in Juneau and worked for the legislative show Gavel to Gavel I graduated in May 2012 with a degree natural resources management at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF), as well as minors in Russian and journalism. I copy-edited and covered science for the Sun Star student newspaper. UAF granted me access to Alaska-specific research. Sidenote: My viewpoints amount to “Alaska and science are really neat!” That said, those views are my own, and do not reflect wherever I am working or have worked.

I love jumping from study to study to better understand things I see every day, as well as things I never knew existed. I also love lichen, the Tanana River, Russia, and Fairbanks summers.

You can find me on Twitter as @kelseygobroski.

The header image is Lycogala epidendrum, wolf’s milk slime, which I found on a log in the Bonanza Creek Long Term Ecological Research forest. All photos and graphics in each post are mine, unless otherwise noted (please contact me before using them).

    Hi Kelsey!
I am working on creating an Alaska Blog Network and would love to include your blog on the list, I just wanted to be sure that was okay first.
    Thanks!

Hey Kelsey! I just stumbled on your blog and took a quick scan — and I already wish we could be friends. Love it.

    • I am so sorry for missing this the first time around, D’Arcy! Thank you so much! Your site is gorgeous, it’s lovely to see the programs available in Ontario.

  3. Hello! I just created a closed Facebook group for Alaskan bloggers and I would love for you to join us there! It serves two purposes: it’s a place to support each other and “talk shop” about blogging, and it will make it easy to coordinate for special local blogging projects and events.

I am currently assessing interest in a Blogging Concentrated conference in Anchorage in 2014 or 2015. Even if that doesn’t interest you, I’d love to “meet” you online and have you add your Alaskan blogger friends.

You can find the group by searching “Alaska Bloggers” or clicking here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/660041177368443/

What do you think?
