UAF’s Nancy Tarnai advocates for agriculture through Food Day

One school at the University of Alaska Fairbanks specializes in community outreach programs. Maybe I am biased because this is also the school I study under and work for – the School of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences (SNRAS – pronounced by some as “sunrays”). Nancy Tarnai explains the school’s research and outreach through her blog, SNRAS Science & News. She also writes for the school’s magazine, Agroborealis, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner and many other publications. I spoke with Tarnai last week about her role in the school and the university’s involvement in a new event.

In celebration of the new national Food Day, the school will host an agricultural festival at the Wood Center Oct. 24 from 11a.m. to 2p.m. Below, I speak with Tarnai about Food Day and SNRAS.

  1. I like Nancy a lot. I publish her Homegrown articles. I hope to meet her someday.
